Chapter 14 Whipple Tree Tragedy DAY 10 MONDAY JUNE 11TH

They begin to piece the wagon back together. Isaac crawls under the rear half of the wagon, while Will crawls under the front half.

“Let’s push on a bit longer tonight Isaac. I feel bad at losing so much distance today because of our wagon. It’s not gonna hurt anybody to work a little later. The cattle are well rested up and we can move them a lot faster for a short while. No need to fall behind because of all this.”

Arlie is standing nearby ready to be a third hand when the need arises. He struggles back and forth from the box of tools on the bank to the wagon in the bog. He is sure that once back on his horse for a few hours of riding that he will feel much better.

“It’s gonna be a long day.”
