RISK
The small cocoon lays dormant
Isolated by a cozy blanket
Insulated from the cold reality
Of the frightening world beyond
A world masked and distorted
By the veiled cloak that surrounds
The warm comforts within.
Disregarding what fate has planned
Why strive for more
And risk what is so great?
I am sheltered from these elements
That could cause me pain
I know I am safe within
These protective walls of mine
I can live my life
No matter what fate has planned
Experiences go untried
Wings that were meant to fly
Remain flexed at my sides
Just from fear of what might be.
The fear of seeing distance places
If carried away by a breeze.
The fear of total freedom
In choosing where to go
The fear of simply changing
From a life of comfort
To a life of unknown challenges
The fear of decision, Whether
To remain a cocoon
Or become a butterfly
The choice is mine alone
The risks remain unknown.
