Desert Dawn
The fiery glow of the morning sun
Rises over the mountains across from dry Red Lake
Bringing the desert a new dawn
In the distance a coyote yipes
The dove mourns
The Gamble Quail calls her mate
And the Thrasher sings his song
A whisp of wind rustles the Chollas
A rabbit startles the Cactus Wren
An Antelope Squirrel scurries up a Joshua tree
The desert is alive. Day and night it thrives.
